The Elk Ranch

The Elk Ranch is a family owned business that has been in operation since 1999. The farm is run by me, Thom Van Eeghen, and my wife, Fay Armitage. I have more than a quarter century of experience in the elk industry in Canada and New Zealand) and Fay's family has been farming in the area for more than 150 years.

We raise our elk in a free-range and natural 90 acre environment. They graze graze on alfalfa hay and oats in open yards surrounded by birch, maple, spruce and pine trees. We never use feed containing animal by-products, or growth hormones, or growth stimulants. The elk are only given antibotics when absolutely necessary.

We sell a wide range of elk products - including:

fresh and prepared elk meats, and

elk velvet.
You can purchase our products from us directly at the farm or at the Carp Farmers Market. You can also find our meat tastefully prepared at a number of fine restaurants in the Ottawa area.
