Chronic Wasting Disease

The following text is summarized from an article on the North American Elk Breeders Association. The full document can be found at the NAEBA site.

Chronic wasting disease - or CWD - is a disease of the brain and central nervous system which affects mule deer and white-tailed deer; as well as, elk. Currently, there is no evidence that CWD can cross species to humans or to other livestock; in fact, studies may show that a species barrier exists that limits the susceptibility of species other than cervids to CWD (Please see Scientific Studies below).
CWD is a vary rare disease in domestic elk - most cases have been found in herds in Dakota.
All of our meat is thoroughly inspected in a certified processing plant.
